What GetMyDepositBack is - and is not

GetMyDepositBack is an educational, self-help document tool. It applies a curated table of state security-deposit statutes to the facts you enter and produces informational summaries, illustrative calculations, and draft documents for you to review, edit, and adopt as your own.

• We are not a law firm and we are not your attorney.
• Nothing on this site is legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship.
• Every statute summary carries a review date and may be out of date. Verify every citation, deadline, and amount against the current official source before relying on it.
• Damages figures are illustrations of what a statute permits a court to award in described circumstances - not predictions, evaluations of your case, or promises of recovery.
• You are the author of any letter you send. Review it, correct it, sign it, and send it in your own name.

Acceptable use

Use the service only for your own genuine dispute, with truthful information. Do not use it to harass, to assert claims you know are false, or to provide services to third parties.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (currently $0 for the free service). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for the outcome of any dispute with your landlord.

Refunds - 30-day money-back guarantee

If the case documents aren't what you needed, request a refund within 30 days of purchase - no questions asked. Use the "Request a refund" link on your case page, or email [email protected] with your case link. Refunds go back to the original payment method, normally within 3-5 business days; you'll receive a confirmation email from our payment provider when it's issued. One refund per case. After a refund the paid case documents lock again; your free analysis stays available. The optional certified-mailing fee is refundable in full only until the letter is handed to USPS. Once mailed, the mailing fee is not refunded - postage and print costs are already spent. For case documents with mailing that means a partial refund after mailing: the case document price comes back under the 30-day guarantee, the mailing portion does not.

Changes

We may update these terms; the effective date above reflects the latest version. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
