Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Case details you enter - state, dates, deposit and rent amounts, the landlord's charges, evidence checklist, notes, and the names/addresses you type for the demand letter. Case details are processed to generate your analysis and documents; the letter and analysis you build are stored in your own browser (localStorage), not in an account on our servers.
• Documents you upload - if you use the document reader, the photos or PDFs you choose to upload (e.g. the landlord's itemized statement or your lease) are used to extract case details into the form. Uploaded files are stored on our servers for up to 30 days and then automatically deleted.
• Move-in vault - photos and documents you store in My Property are kept for the duration of your tenancy so they can serve as evidence later. They stay until you delete them (or ask us to at [email protected]); they are not sent to any AI provider and are visible only to your signed-in account.
• Waitlist email - if you ask to be notified when your state opens, we store your email address and state.
• Deadline reminder email - if you opt in on the deadline calculator, we store your email address, state, and the computed deadline date to send one reminder when that date passes. Every reminder carries an unsubscribe link that deletes the record.
• Basic technical logs - standard server logs (IP address, request time, user agent) kept for security and debugging.
• Anonymous usage statistics - we run a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool (Plausible) on our own server. It counts page views and anonymous events (e.g. "a calculator check was run for Texas") without cookies, cross-site tracking, or personal identifiers, and the data never leaves our infrastructure. Error reports go to our self-managed error tracker (GlitchTip) and may include technical context such as browser type; we do not attach your case details to them.

How we use it

• To run the analysis and generate your documents.
• To email you when your state's case builder opens (waitlist).
• To send the one deadline reminder you asked for on the calculator.
• To operate, secure, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it with landlords, data brokers, or advertisers. If AI-assisted analysis is enabled, the charge descriptions you enter and the documents you upload are processed by our AI provider (OpenAI) solely to classify charges and extract the details you asked us to read; under the API terms we use, they are not used to train models.

Retention and deletion

Case data lives in your browser - clear your browser storage to delete it. Uploaded documents are kept for up to 30 days and then deleted automatically; write to [email protected] to have them removed sooner. To remove a waitlist email, use the unsubscribe link in any email from us or write to [email protected] and we will delete it within 30 days.
